How to connect to the power grid

Procedure and documents required for connectin consumer unit to power grid

The Applicant has to provide the following information and documents included in the application for grid connection:

1)

- Name of the organization, the private entrepreneur, name and surname of the applicant if natural person;

- Business or residential address;

- Address of the connection;

- Phone number of the company executive, the private entrepreneur or the natural person or their authorized persons;

- Tax payer ID of the organization or the private entrepreneur, passport number if the applicant is a natural person (the passport is returned after making a copy of it);

Passport (the passport is returned after making a copy) and email address of the company executive, the private entrepreneur or the natural person, or their authorized persons when applying online;

2)

- Requested capacity (installed and usable);

- Voltage level;

- Type of connection (single-phase, three-phase)

- Type of consumption (residential, non-residential);

- Technical specification of the unit for non-residential consumption;

- also: Applicant's requirements for a reserve power supply; this is to be provided at Applicant's discretion;

3) For connection to a three-phase network with a voltage of 0.4 kV and above:

- layout of the power supply system or the area containing the new consumer unit connection point(s);

- Type of the consumption;

- for multi-floor apartment buildings the internal power supply scheme is also required which shall contain information on energy consumption recording points, number of floors of the building, number of apartments, installed capacity of other consumers, places where the switchboard and metering devices of the building are located;

4)

- documents certifying (approving) the rights or acquisition of rights against the area (building, structure, plot) that will be supplied with electric power except for public spaces in apartment buildings such as parking areas and elevators as well as cases specified in paragraph 13.7.1 of this regulation.

Fees for grid connection of the consumer unit

1) For connection of detached houses or commercial consumers to the power grid with a voltage of 0,4 (0.22) kV fees (hereinafter referred to as the "Connection fee", “CF”) are calculated with the following formula:

CF = Fst. + Fadd. + Freserve

Where:

Fst. is the standard connection fee component (including but not limited to the costs estimated per design documentation and costs for construction, configuration and commissioning of electric stations (including transmission lines) including purchase and placement of cells, electronic commercial metering device and automatic switches in electric stations of other people) for connection of the consumer unit to the grid irrespective of its distance from connection point if the unit is located within the residential zone of the community administrative area, and at a distance of up to 200 m from the connection point if the unit is located outside the residential zone of the community administrative area

Fadd. is the additional connection fee component assuming that it is equal to zero if the unit is located within the residential zone of the community administrative area. If the unit is outside the residential zone of the community administrative area, Fadd. includes:

a) the average cost for construction of transmission feeder on the area that is beyond the 200 m distance from the connection point;

b) the average cost for construction of infrastructures if necessary to build a feeder line and a substation with a higher voltage as requested by the new consumer or the property developer or the consumer (hereinafter referred to as the "Applicant") according to project’s feasibility study (hereinafter referred to as the "FS")

Freserve is the cost for construction of a transmission line for standby power supply of the consumer unit.

1.2) For connection of detached houses and commercial consumers with a voltage of 0,4 kV standard connection fees (Fst.) (VAT included) are calculated with the following formula:

Fst. = Ffix. + Fvar. x Rpower x CII

Where:

Ffix. represents the fixed costs assuming they are equal to 203.000 (two hundred three thousand) AMD,

Fvar. represents the variable costs assuming they are equal to 7.500 (seven thousand five hundred) AMD per kVA;

Rpower represents the power (kVA) requested by the Applicant;

CII represents the cost intensity index assuming that it is 1.4 for the administrative area of Yerevan and 1 for other areas of the Republic of Armenia.

2) For connection of detached houses or commercial consumers to the power grid with a voltage of 6 (10) kV connection fees (VAT included) are calculated with the following formula:

CF = Fst. + Fadd. + Freserve

Where:

Fst. represents the standard connection fee component (including but not limited to the costs estimated per design documentation and costs for construction, configuration and commissioning of electric stations (including transmission lines) including purchase and placement of cells, electronic commercial metering device and automatic switches in electric stations of other people, not included transformers for power and voltage measurement to be placed on the area owned by the consumer) for grid connection of the unit if it is located at a distance of up to 1200 m from the grid connection point

Fadd. represents the additional component of the connection fee which includes:

1) the average cost for construction of a transmission feeder on the area beyond the 1200 m;

2) the average cost for construction of infrastructures if necessary to build a power supply line and a substation outside the residential zone of the community administrative area with a voltage that is higher than requested by the Applicant according to project’s FS

Freserve represents the cost for construction of a transmission line for standby power supply of the consumer unit.

2.1) For connection of detached houses and commercial consumers with a voltage of 6 (10) kV standard connection fees (Fst.) (VAT included) are calculated with the following formula:

Fst. = Ffix. + Fvar. x Rpower x CII

Where:

Ffix. represents the fixed costs assuming they are equal to 846.000 (eight hundred forty six thousand) AMD,

Fvar. represents the value of variable costs assuming they are equal to 2.150 (two thousand one hundred fifty) AMD per kVA;

Rpower represents the power (kVA) requested by the Applicant;

CII represents the cost intensity index assuming it is 1.4 for the administrative area of the city of Yerevan and 1 for other areas of the Republic of Armenia.
